Black Truffle
For importation of Biosecurity regulated products (Plants or its products), importer needs to have a valid Biosecurity Approved Premises (BAP) prior to its importation. Our trade and compliance team (tfc@baf.com.fj) will assist you in obtaining your BAP.
Import permit conditions are to be met prior to the shipment of the consignment.
A BAF import permit is required for its clearance in Fiji and the following are the import permit conditions:
IMPORTANT � Importers should note that if the conditions below are not strictly observed, delivery of the plant matter listed in this permit may be refused:
(1) The importation is subject to inspection on arrival and must be found to be free from any evidence of disease or insect infestation of any kind and from soil or other plant matter, including seeds, not listed in the permit.
(2) The importation must be accompanied by original Phytosanitary Certificate issued by a recognized agricultural or biosecurity authority of the country of origin, which shall certify that the commodity is believed to be free from all forms of disease or insect infestations.
(3) The consignment must be packed in clean new packages /bags not previously used for any purpose and must not be packed in hay, straw, chaff, etc. nor any decomposing material.
(4) Any non-compliance to any of the above conditions will result in revocation of the import permit and destruction of the imported commodity and other action taken as directed by the Biosecurity Authority of Fiji all at the importers expense.
Specific Import permit Requirements:
I. Only the following fresh truffle species are permitted entry:
� Kalapuya brunnea (synonym: Leucangium brunneum) (Oregon brown truffle)
� Leucangium carthusianum (Oregon black truffle)
� Mattirolomyces terfezioides (Hungarian honey truffle)
� Tuber aestivum (synonym: T. uncinatum) (Burgundy or English truffle)
� Tuber borchii (synonym: T. albidum) (spring white truffle or bianchetto)
� Tuber gibbosum (Oregon spring white truffle)
� Tuber magnatum (Italian white truffle)
� Tuber melanosporum (Perigord black truffle)
� Tuber oregonense (Oregon winter white truffle).
Requirements
II. Prior to export, the plants or plant products must be inspected or tested by the National Plant Protection Organisation (NPPO) according to appropriate procedures and be considered free from biosecurity pests.
III. Additional Declaration on The Phytosanitary Certificate
"This is to certify that the plants, plant products described herein have been inspected and/or tested according to appropriate official procedures and are considered to be free from the quarantine pests specified by the importing contracting party and to conform with the current phytosanitary requirements of the importing contracting party, including those for regulated non-quarantine pests.
IV. The phytosanitary certificate must bear the scientific name for truffles as one of the above species.
V. The goods must be clean and free of contaminant seed, soil, animal and plant debris and other biosecurity risk material.
VI. Each consignment of goods must be packed in clean and new packaging.
2. Entry is restricted to the following frozen truffle species only:
� Kalapuya brunnea (synonym: Leucangium brunneum; Oregon brown truffle)
� Leucangium carthusianum (Oregon black truffle)
� Mattirolomyces terfezioides (Hungarian honey truffle)
� Tuber aestivum (synonym: T. uncinatum; burgundy or English truffle)
� Tuber borchii (synonym: T. albidum; spring white truffle or bianchetto spring truffle)

Requirements
I. Each consignment must be verified to have undergone an appropriate freezing process. This freezing process includes preparation, packaging and storing.
II. To demonstrate compliance with this requirement, you must present the following on a Freezing declaration, Packing list, Supplier's declaration, Exporter's declaration, Export certificate, Commercial invoice or Beneficiary certificate:
a. country of origin
b. botanical name
c. packaging information
d. processing information
e. hard frozen statement
III. A statement that the produce has been continuously maintained at -18 �C or below for a period of at least seven days.
3. Entry is restricted to the following dried truffle species only:

� Leucangium carthusianum (Oregon black truffle)

i. The dried truffles must be commercially produced and packaged.
ii. The goods must be clean and free of contaminant seed, soil, animal and plant debris, and other biosecurity risk material.
iii. The dried truffles must be commercially produced and packaged.
iv. All consignments are subject to inspection and treatment, if necessary, before release.
